There's no denying the influence of environment', you've told me. And I have to answer: Quite. That is why you have to be formed in such a way that you can carry your own environment about with you in a natural manner, and so give your own 'tone' to the society in which you live.” (Furrow, no. 175).

ACTIVITIES OF FORMATION FOR Grades 9-12

What activities does bowmont offer young men?

Bowmont offers young men various activities to help them grow in the virtues and become men of character and deep faith.

Young men can attend The Peaks program for students in grade 9 to 12. It takes place on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8:30pm. More information is available on The Peaks webpage.

Probably the most important means of formation Bowmont offers is mentoring. It offers young men a way to get advice from older and more experienced men. Young men who avail of mentoring throughout their high school years experience fruits in growth in character and deeper faith. The relationship formed in mentoring allows the young man access to an adult male role model who is outside his immediate family circle and is concerned about his spiritual and personal development. It is difficult to put a value on this accompaniment a young man could experience in the often times tumultuous adolescent years. Mentoring could take place around scheduled activities or arranged as needed.

Bowmont provides an environment of serious study. Bowmont's study room is a quiet place where students can get work done. University students will often be available to provide academic help. Students can come right after school on weekdays to take advantage of this environment.

Bowmont also offers weekly meditations preached by a catholic priest, who is also available for confession and spiritual direction. For the 2024-2025 school year, weekly meditations will be held on Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m.
